I have neglected this journal long enough.
Smitty's "10 Best Games of All Time" entry has enspired me to do my own. Contrary to his, I will not group games under the same franchise together b/c I am not a gaming freak like him.
10. Fable (Xbox) (+): Detailed and interesting game world, Excellent story, Wonderful soundtrack (-): Easy and repetitive combat, Not as open-ended as advertised 9. Jade Empire (Xbox) (+): Excellent story, Loved the characters, Good replay value (-): Terrible fighting engine, Dissappointing oundtrack 8. NBA Inside Drive 2003 (Xbox) (+): Very underrated, Excellent gameplay, Best job of announcing in a sports game to date (-): Too easy even on hardest mode, CAP (Player creation) options are limited 7. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Arcade Game (NES) (+): Simply a great side scroller, Varied levels and enemies, Action never stops (-): Shredder was a cheap bastard, Not enough moves in the Turtles' arsenals 6. Super Mario Kart (SNES) (+): So simple yet so addictive, Awesome multiplayer (-): Donkey Kong and Bowser were useless unless you were an expert 5. Eastside Hockey Manager (PC) (+): Free and continuously updated, As close to being a GM as you can, Infinite seasons (-): Easy to pull off ghetto trades (e.g., keep trading mediocre young talent for a hot 21 year old rookie), No hockey gameplay (it's a sim, after all) 4. ESPN NFL 2K5 (Xbox) (+): Most realistic football game to date, Deep team controls, The Crib is cool (-): What's the deal with the "celebrity" challenges? Since when is Steve-O a celebrity?, First person football was a bust, Last game in the franchise - at least till the Madden deal is done 3. Halo (Xbox) (+): Killer story, Killer action, KILLER soundtrack (-): No multiplayer 2. Halo 2 (Xbox) (+): Killer multiplayer + all of the above (-): Way too short 1. Shenmue II (Xbox) (+): Everything (-): WHERE THE FCUK IS SHENMUE III. I am waiting for the day where ShenmueDojo.net proudly reports that Shenmue III has gone gold for the Xbox 360 on a day other than April 1st.
If you're thinking to yourself Why isn't ___________ on the list you dumbass, keep in mind that I have not been a big Nintendo/Sony guy. I'm pretty sure I've done this same exact list on a previous entry before ... oh well, it's too long ago for me to remember. |

OK, so I've never been a big tennis fan but the gameplay is better than expected. One thing is very clear to me, though. Women's tennis is much better to watch than men's tennis. Bear in mind that my opinion is not based on the "presentation" of women's tennis, if you know what I mean. Heck, you get the same "presentation" with men's tennis when Blake and/or Safin plays through various cuts to their girlfriends.
Men's tennis is all about power. The average rally is about 3 strokes, and really much lower (~1.5) when there are power servers (e.g. Roddick, Philippoussis, etc.). There are also seriously too many serve and volley players like Dent. It also doesn't help to have one dude winning everything. Good TV is all about long rallies, which is exactly what women's tennis brings. Men's tennis points ends before you know what hits you. Even in the "epic" battle between 87 year old Andre and James Blake, match point was: Blake serves, Agassi hits a winner. Game over. No offense, but women's serves and strokes are not too powerful, allowing many gets, which produces long and hardfought rallies. The most important aspect is that women's matches are shorter. Every point starts to look eerily similar after a while, so it's important to keep the presentation varied. If you can't sit through 9 innings of baseball, then you know what I mean.
But still, there's always the "Sharapova" Factor, and that's all the convincing that I need to watch... ;) |

So we go to this one Chinese place for the special occasion and we decide to order the giant bowl of noodles. I asked the lady how much (I was expecting $30-40 range) and she says $200. She wasn't kidding either..."Very cheaper!" |

/ Yes, there are certainly things that one can get addicted to, e.g., Halo, Chocolate, Cocaine, etc., but I honestly don't see what's so addicting about [thefacebook]. It's basically like Oregon Trail (the newer versions) - you meet people along the way and persuade them to join your posse. I will admit though that the site does have its occasional highlights. Personally:
- a nice conversation with CP3 (Chris Paul) - finding college athletes I only see on the tele - being the only member of the Memphis Grizzlies group at UCD. \ On a more chunkylover53-like topic, I'm going to be a badminton TA next quarter...should be oodles of fun. Yes, oodles. / Apparently it was washed up wrestlers night on RAW b/c I saw Marty Jannety and Jake Roberts. DDT! DDT! DDT! RKO? \ As you can probably tell, I just wrote a 10 page paper, so I probably won't be able to stay on one topic for at least 72 hours, which might be bad b/c my first final is Thursday...and I have a MT tomorrow (last day). / I should update this more shouldn't I? Nah. \ |

as always, my NFL predictions sucked on the most part.
The Eagles will not make the playoffs, their defense, even with the reaquistion of Trotter, is still highly suspect with the departures of Troy Vincent and Bobby Taylor along with N.D. Kalu's injury. They'll finish 8-8.
I obviously overlooked how good Lito Sheppard and Brian Dawkins were; and TO is a stud, like him or hate him.
Kevan Barlow will emerge as a top 5 running back.
What a horendous offensive line...Draft Maurice Clarrett or wait for Adrian Peterson. ANYTHING.
Dante Hall will not get a special teams touchdown this year.
Well, he didn't have one for 13 weeks, so that is good enough.
Willis McGahee will rush for 1,000 yards this season.
We all knew Travis Henry was a loser.
Ray Lewis will break the Madden curse and play all 16 games this year.
15...you think that's better than Marshall Faulk, Eddie George, and Michael Vick, well, not quite. He missed the most important game of the season: the last one.
Kyle Boller will not have a QB rating higher than 80.0 this year.
70.9...He has a spaghetti arm and a meatball brain.
Julius Jones will have double the rushing yards as Eddie George.
819 to 432...so that's about 800 to 400.
Carson Palmer will lead Cincy to the playoffs.
The Defensive Player of the Year will be Julius Peppers.
Yes, Peppers was sick, but Ed Reed was definitely sicker.
The Lions will win 9 games.
Maybe next year.
Ahmed Plummer will lead the league in interceptions
The Niners had as many interceptions as Ed Reed.
Super Bowl: Titans-13 Panthers-9
Update: Steelers-9 Falcons-3. |

Pacers vs. Pistons
In a word: Pitiful. The players were idiots, and the fans were bigger idiots. The picture of the child crying says it all. |

even though i did not hear a fat lady sing, David Ortiz sure was dancin...close enough
Destiny? Houston wins Game 7 (Roger Clemens), and then fall to the Red Sox in three straight (Clemens gets rocked in Game 3 on three days rest). Houston goes on to win the next three while giving Clemens time to rest in preparation for Game 7...Where Clemens throws a perfect game at Fenway and tells Red Sox management to shove it where the sun don't shine. The Curse Lives on.
it could happen... |

It's time for Roy Jones Jr. to call it a career. The reason can be summed up in two words:
Glen Johnson
Enough said.
Now I need to find a new favorite boxer. That's going to be hard. Both Benard Hopkins and James "Lights Out" Toney just don't appeal to me... |
